Tenses

Simple Present Tense

Used for: - Habits: I study English every day. - General facts: The sun rises in the east. - Schedules: The train leaves at 8 AM.

Formula: - Positive: Subject + Verb1 (s/es) - Negative: Subject + do/does + not + Verb1 - Question: Do/Does + Subject + Verb1?

Present Continuous Tense

Used for ongoing activities.

Formula: - Positive: Subject + is/am/are + Verb-ing - Negative: Subject + is/am/are + not + Verb-ing - Question: Is/Am/Are + Subject + Verb-ing?

Examples: - I am learning English now. - She is reading a book.

Simple Past Tense

Used for completed actions in the past.

Formula: - Positive: Subject + Verb2 - Negative: Subject + did + not + Verb1 - Question: Did + Subject + Verb1?

  1. Noun - Names of people, places, things
  2. Verb - Action words
  3. Adjective - Describing words
  4. Adverb - Words that modify verbs
  5. Pronoun - Words that replace nouns
